Roberto G Villanueva was born to Refugio and Tomasa Villanueva on October 3, 1945 in Beeville,TX. At the age of 16 moved with his family to Neinda, TX, soon after Hamlin, TX.

Prior to meeting his wife and beginning his family, Roberto was a decorated infantry specialist. Following his service in the Vietnam War, he was honored with several medals and badges. Those honors include National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Expert (Rifle M-14), and Air Medal.

He met Zenaida “Sandy” Carrillo at a wedding in 1968. They married on November 29, 1969 and shared 51 loving years together. They welcomed their first child in 1971 and would go on to have 5 more wonderful children in the following years.

Throughout his life Roberto “Honey” enjoyed landscaping, gardening, barbequing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren and his beloved wife. When not spending time with his family, he enjoyed farming with White Family/Logan Farms with which he worked for 30 years. He was a dedicated member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church for over 50 years. He served in roles such as Eucharistic Minister and Usher. Roberto dedicated his life to his family and his faith.

Roberto was called to his eternal home surrounded by his devoted wife and loving children on January 26, 2021.

Roberto was proceeded in death by his parents Refugio And Tomasa Villanueva, his brothers Jose, Jesus, Julio, Francisco, and his sister Gloria.

Roberto is survived by his loving wife Zenaida “Sandy” Villanueva of Hamlin and children; MaryAnne and husband Michael of Hamlin, Oscar and wife Manu currently stationed in San Antonio, JoAnne and husband Tommy of Hamlin, Martha and husband Gilbert of Abilene, Eric of Hamlin, and Melissa and husband Scott of Hamlin. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Matthew, Markus, Chelsea, Alicia, Ray, Viktoria, Brandon, Bryanna, Isaiah, Ian, RyLee, Brayden, Ivan, Brander, and Dax whom all lovingly knew him as “Papo”. Lastly, Roberto is survived by his sisters; Maria Chavez of Hamlin, Delia Villanueva of Abilene, and brother Ruben Villanueva of Stamford and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a private mass for the family on Thursday, January 28th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
