Linda Kaye Cooper Shelton, 70, passed away October 10, 2020, in Abilene.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery.  The family respectfully ask that mask are to be in the church.

Linda Kaye Cooper Shelton was born on October 7, 1950, in Hamlin to Jimmy Rice and Ruthie Mae Cooper Bussey and Henry Thomas Bussey that she affectionally called “Daddy”.

Linda attended Oscar DePriest and Hamlin Independent School District.  She later got her GED.  She received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age at Oak Grove Baptist Church.  Linda worked faithfully as a Deaconess, Kitchen Committee, and loved decorating her church until her death.  Linda worked at the Holiday Lodge, Celetex, Abilene State School, and retired from Hendrick Medical Center.

Linda met and married Louis Edward Shelton on August 2, 1979 and they spent over 50 wonderful years together.

Linda loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking, watching movies, baking for the family and vacationing in San Antonio during the summers.  Linda was known for her style, always dressed in beautiful hats and suits.  The joy of her life was going to her church conferences with Sister Norma J. Williams (until her passing) and Sister Barbara Brown.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Dorothy Washington, and three brothers, Welford, Oscar, and Willie.

She leaves to cherish her husband, Louis Shelton: four daughters, Vickie Michelle Shelton of San Antonio, Ruthie LaVerne Higginbottom of Jefferson City, MO, Melonice Malone-Castaneda (Daniel) of Hamlin, and Linda Diane Malone of Hamlin; grandchildren, Jasmine, Jason, Ashley, James, Allison, Marcus, Porche, Shelton, Jessica, Justice, Alexus and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Serenity, Honnor, Ayden, Patrick III, Carlos, Jr., and Vincent ;two sisters, Ruby Jewel Cooper of Hamlin, and Alice Marshall (Shelton) of Hamlin; one brother, George Cooper of Dallas; special aunt Lena Mae Lee of Hamlin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends.

The family of the late Linda Kaye Shelton would like to express a heartfelt thanks for your prayers, expressions of love, calls and visits.  Our hearts are forever touched by your thoughtfulness.  We thank God for allowing each of you to be a blessing to our family.  Your kindness will not be forgotten.
