Calvin Faught

November 1, 1933 — January 7, 2021

Hamlin

On January 7, 2021, Calvin Ray Faught (87) was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father.

Calvin was born in Royston, Texas on November 1, 1933, to Jim and Viola (Smith) Faught.  He was one of four children and had a close relationship with his parents and siblings as a child and as an adult.  He carried that closeness over to several nieces and nephews.

Calvin graduated from McCaulley High School and proudly joined the United States Army and served in German for 2 years. Thereafter he worked at the Gypsum in Rotan until his retirement in 1999.

Calvin was a sports enthusiast.  On Friday nights he could almost always be found cheering on his favorite team, the Hamlin Pied Pipers, and could also be found faithfully rooting for the Dallas Cowboys anytime they played.  He enjoyed attending the state basketball tournament and state cross-country/track meets.  He regularly played golf with friends and relatives at the Hamlin Country Club and was a blackbelt in karate and he was always up for a game of cards or dominos with his family.

Calvin met Julie (Perez) Faught, they married on February 28,1979 in Hamlin and enjoyed 41 years of marriage.  They frequently traveled across the state and out of the country with and to visit family.  He especially enjoyed visiting and spending time with his grandchildren.

Calvin was a member of Life Fellowship, where he faithfully attended and served for many years.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.  He is survived by his wife, Julie Faught (Hamlin); children, Vicky Wise (Brownfield); Diedra Williamson (Eric; Enid, Oklahoma); Christy Marsh (Scott; Frisco); Michael Villarreal (Debra, Indianapolis, Indiana); and Kelly Hight (Jerid, Midland); and grandchildren, Davis, James, Erica, Taylor, Camryn, Cayden, Ashton, Matthew, and Kyle Ray.

Calvin’s life will be celebrated Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Hamlin, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at the Hamlin Cemetery.  Marcos Olvera, Mario Perez, George Perez, Mark Perez, Don Myers, Mark Faught, Ricky Faught and Freddy Perez will serve as pallbearers.  Revs. Larry Baird and Billy Weaver will officiate.

Thank you, Calvin, for honorably serving your country; faithfully serving God’s kingdom; and lovingly serving your family.
