Woodrow Goolsby

HamlinWoodrow Goolsby, 94, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013, in Coleman. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013, at AdamsFosterRay Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, ed by AdamsFosterRay Funeral Home.

Born December 26, 1918, in Raton, New Mexico, Woodrow was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Ida Teal Goolsby. He married Martha H. Conn on September 23, 1944, in Granger and they moved to Hamlin in 1946. Woodrow worked in maintenance at the Celotex Corporation later Jim Walters Corporation from 1946 until his retirement in 1981, and the Hamlin Public School System from 1981 until 1987. In 2007, Woodrow moved to Coleman to be near his daughter. He enjoyed woodworking mainly building furniture and working on cars. Woodrow loved his dogs Bo, Fritzi, Macho Max, and Jo Jo and he tolerated his cats. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hamlin.

Woodrow is preceded in death by his wife Martha Goolsby, 2011, his parents, brothers Dudley Goolsby and Helon Hester, and sisters Lucille Welch, Mary Ruth Headrick, Minnie Pearl Hendrix, Louise Nazworth, and Rosa Lee Pritchard.

Survivors include two sons and daughtersinlaw, Jesse and Frances Goolsby of Abernathy and Thomas and Debbie Goolsby of Lubbock one daughter and soninlaw, Martha J. Jeanie and Wendell Rice of Santa Anna one brother, Johnnie Hester of Abilene and numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
