Larry Waylon Woolf, a cherished member of the Hamlin community, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, in Abilene, Texas, on what would have been his 90th birthday. Born on June 13, 1935, in Hamlin, Texas, Waylon was a lifelong resident whose presence brought joy and warmth to all who knew him. He is remembered fondly for his passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting. Waylon had a sweet tooth, often indulging in his favorite treats. A devoted fan of high school football and a proud supporter of the Hamlin Pied Pipers. He could frequently be found engaging in spirited conversations about politics, sharing his thoughts with an enthusiasm that captivated those around him. Waylon is survived by his loving son, Kenneth Woolf and his wife Jeanie; his daughter, Sarah Grudier and her husband Scott; as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lois Woolf; his daughter, Pam Soother; his son, Michael Woolf; and his brothers, Floyd, Preston, Doug, Lewis, Morris, and Tony. Each of these family members held a special place in his heart, and their memories continue to be cherished by those he leaves behind. A visitation honoring Waylon's life will be held on June 18, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home Chapel in Hamlin, Texas. The funeral service will take place the following day, June 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Hamlin, followed by burial at Hamlin Memorial Cemetery.
Waylon Woolf will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on through the countless memories shared by family and friends, and the values he instilled in those he loved
