Hamlin-Vera Heaton was born on September 19, 1936, in Bradshaw, Texas. She entered Heaven's Gates on Mother's Day, May 10, 2015, in Abilene, Texas. Graveside service will be Tuesday, May 12, 2015, 3:00 p.m. at El Ranchito Cemetery, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Vera graduated from Abilene High School, and married William E. Heaton. She served as a homemaker to William, and to their eight children. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, puzzles, watching game shows, and cooking. Vera served as a Cub Scout den mother for many years. She was a longtime Hamlin resident, and a Baptist.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents, RB and Maudie Jenkins; her husband, William Heaton; and her son, Walter Dale Heaton.

She is survived by four sons, Wesley Heaton and wife, Angel, of Hamlin, William E. Heaton, Jr. of Abilene, Shane Heaton of Abilene, and Greg Heaton and wife, Sheila, of Abilene; three daughters, Debbie Briggs and husband, Donny, of Weatherford, Gracie Myers and husband, David, of Round Top, and Gay McCoy and husband, Doug, of LaGrange; one brother, Larry Jenkins; two sisters, Dorothy Futch, and Brenda Harris and husband, Steve; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
