Rodger Lynn Bell, 77, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2026, at his home. Burial will be at 10:00 am Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, with a Memorial Service following at First Baptist Church in Hamlin at 11:30 am, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Rodger was born in Hamlin, Texas on July 22, 1948. He attended Hamlin Schools and graduated in 1966 and continued his education at McMurry College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing in the summer of 1970. Rodger married Nancy Jill Harrison at South Side Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas, on August 1, 1970.
Following college, Rodger returned to Hamlin to join his father in the family business at White Auto Store. Over the years, the store underwent several name changes, including White Auto, Western Auto, and eventually Bell’s Home and Auto Inc.
Rodger served his community in numerous leadership roles while living in Hamlin. He was a member of the Hamlin School Board for nine years, served on the Jones County Appraisal Board, the Industrial Foundation Board, the Housing Authority, the Cemetery Association, and the Hamlin Golf Course board. In addition, he served for many years as a director on the Board of Community Development.
Rodger was an avid golfer, hunter, and collector of Sako rifles. Through his interest and knowledge of firearms, he made many friends around the world. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hamlin.
Rodger was preceded in death by his parents; Byron Olen Bell and Neoma Ruth Bell, along with two infant brothers Jerry Olen Bell and Melvin Douglas Bell.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Jill Bell, his daughter Maggie Curington and her two sons Henry Curington and Jack Curington; his son David Bell, wife Megan and their two sons Brady Bell and Bryan Bell. He is also survived by his brother Doyle Bell and his two daughters; Shauna Martin, husband Greg, their children Ryan, his wife Emily, and Samantha; other daughter Ashley Bell and her daughter, Sierra.
Pallbearers will be Holman Jones, Eddie Connally, John Poe, Steve Carriker, Milbourne Newland, Bill Stablein, Steven McHaney, Ricky Guerra, Alan Beard and Juan Segovia.
