HAMLINREV. TERRY O39REAR, 61, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, in Hamlin. Funeral service will be 2:00 Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Hamlin. ation will be 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the funeral home. Arrangements under the ions of AdamsFosterRay Funeral Home.

Born June 27, 1950, in Glendale, CA, Terry was a son of the late Artie William and Bernice Olivia Brady O39Rear. He attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, received his Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Fullerton.He earned his Master39s in Religious Education and additional Theologyfrom Abilene Christian University. Terry worked as a Special Agent for the Department of Defense Investigative Service, and Internal Revenue Servicebefore entering the ministry. He was an AssociateMinisterat the Highland Church of Christ in Abilene and later became a Methodist minister in 2004 where he served as minister at Rule and Sagerton. Terry was currently serving as pastor of the United Methodist Church in Hamlin and McCaulley. He is also a news writer and columnist of quotLife Notesquotfor the Hamlin Herald and member of the Texas Press Association. He isalso an AFLAC Representative.


Terry married Laura Lee Blassingame Slattery June 19, 2004, at the Wylie United Methodist Church. He was a wonderful husband and loving father. Terry was a very peaceful and quiet man and loved the Lord and family. He was a avid reader, worked crossword puzzles which he worked in ink, loved football and baseball. He studied the Bible daily from his favorite chair, withhis dogs on his lap,and a cup of coffee. His TYL Thank You Lord postings on Facebook were a daily start to his day and cherished by many. Terry also enjoyed playing Santa39s helper at Christmas.quotTerBearquot loved his triple K girls, his soninlaw, andhis LauraLove. He never met a stranger, and had a true servent leadership heart.

Terry was a musician, loved to sing and was a true Irish tenor who was classically trained. Terry marched in the Rose Bowl Parade with the State Honor Band. He performed in an Abilene Opera, was President and board member of the Classical Chorusin Abilene, singing with Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra, and was past musical or of quotMemory Menquot. Terry toured in Korea with the USOwhile at Pepperdine Universityand recently attended the 40th Anniversaryof that tour.

Terry served as past president, secretary and board member of the Key City Kiwanis, president and board member of NAIFA, delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years, and financial advisor for Merrill Lynch. Hepreviously worked for MetLife and Abilene Teachers FCU. He worked for the Hamlin ISD as DAEP substitute teacher. Terry was also a member of the Hamlin Ministerial Alliance.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Laura O39Rear of Hamlin three daughters, Kristin O39Rear of Dallas, Kelly O39Rear of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Kelley Hicks and husband, Dave of Knoxville, TN four brothers, Michael O39Rear, Patrick O39Rear, Artie O39Rear, Jr. and wife, Karen, and Dan O39Rear and wife, Pat sister Patsy O39Rear, cousin Dave Brady and wife Barb nieces and nephews life long friend, Dave Ogilbee beloved dogs, Snuggles, Winston Churchill, Missy and cat, Mollie.
