Pete G. Munoz Sr., a lifelong resident of Abilene, TX, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 24, 2022.
Pete was born on October 9,1940 in Abilene, TX to Nativida Munoz and Jesusa Gonzales.
He married Gloria Villanueva on October 7,1967 in Hamlin, TX. Pete and Gloria were married for 47 years. They spent their lives in Abilene where they raised their four children.
Pete served his country in the Army as a PFC where he repaired basic teletypewriter equipment. He also worked for the Bordens Dairy Company for 15 years before he followed in his grandfather’s and father’s footsteps and accepted a job at the Hendrick Home for Children were he proudly dedicated 29 years of service. Every person in the world, to Pete, was a friend he hadn’t met. He was funny, loved to fish, be with his family, listen to music, watch sports and watch movies on the Hallmark Channel. He was known for his quick-witted one-liners like “If you don’t believe me ask me” or “Ask me no questions and I’ll tell you no lies”.
Pete is survived by his children, Pete Munoz Jr. of Abilene, TX; Andrea Munoz of Sweetwater, TX; Andrew Munoz (Elizabeth Suarez) of McAllen, TX; and Amy Munoz Connally (Charles Connally) of Abilene, TX. Grandchildren include Lori Vasquez (Ishmael Castillo); Josh Vasquez, Morgan Nava-Munoz, Anahi Munoz and Sofia Munoz. Great grandchildren include Rosilyn Vasquez, Leo Castillo, and Dani Castillo. Also siblings Vicente Munoz, Martha Munoz and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Natividad Munoz and Jesusa Gonzales; his wife, Gloria Munoz; and his sister, Guadalupe Salazar.
