ROTAN MADILENE KIKER MURPHREE, 85, passed away Saturday October 8, 2011, at her residence in Hamlin. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Hamlin with Bro. Donny Harbers officiating and burial in Cottonwood Cemetery at Rough Creek. Arrangements are with AdamsFosterRay Funeral Home.

Madilene was born February 25, 1926 to Elmer and Jessie Lee Goodwin Kiker. She attended school in Pleasant Valley and graduated from Dowell High School. Madilene married Snyder quotSnydequot Murphree January 2, 1947. They lived, farmed and ranched in Rough Creek and were together until his death in 1970. Madilene also owned and operated Murphree Grocery from the early 196039s until retiring in the 198039s. She married Charles Brown January 1, 1972 and he passed away in 1982. She later married Ben Kemp in the 199039s and they were married three years until his death. Madilene married Walter Acklin in May of 2000. She was a great seamstress and an excellent cook. She loved to entertain and her cooking was often a production that was enjoyed by numerous friends, family or people in need. Madilene also enjoyed dancing and playing cards late into the night, but her favorite time was with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. After almost eighty years of living in Rough Creek or Rotan, she moved to Hamlin in 2006 to be near her daughter. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rotan. Madilene is preceded in death by three husbands, a brother Earl Junior Kiker and a sister Mary Adams.

Madilene is survived by one daughter and soninlaw, Linda Sue Murphree and Billy Don Cooper of Hamlin two sons and daughterinlaws, Charles Glen and Kathy Cave Murphree of Sweetwater and Randy Pat and Betty Middleton Murphree of Stamford eight grandchildren and their spouses, Dave and Tricia Byerly, Dan and Kristi Byerly, Danna Cooper Jenkins, Jori Cooper and Mason Van Cleave, Chad and Rachael Murphree, Brent and Adela Murphree, Tyler and Shauna Murphree, and Josh and Carrie Murphree seventeen greatgrandchildren, Sarah Byerly, Jacob Byerly, Dylan Byerly, Madi Byerly, Ethan Byerly, Allie Jenkins, Abby Jenkins, Emily Van Cleave, Macy Van Cleave, Jenna Van Cleave, Austin Murphree, Conner Murphree, Addie Murphree, Emmelia Murphree, Cohen Murphree, Ryland Murphree and Jaxton Murphree one brotherinlaw, Roy Adams one sisterinlaw, Yvonne Kiker numerous very special nieces and nephews and a special friend Walter Acklin.
