Laverne Witt

LAVERNE GERALDINE (HIX) WITT, 92, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016, at a Hamlin Nursing Home.
Born August 23, 1924, in Hamlin, Laverne was the daughter of James Edward and Annie Lucinda (Childress) Hix. She graduated from Hamlin High School, and married Grearward Gean Witt on June 20, 1943, in Hamlin. Laverne worked in a variety of jobs over the years, but devoted much of her life to being a wife and mother. She was very artistic and creative, and in her spare time, she enjoyed making crafts, knitting, crocheting, quiltmaking, and making handmade dolls. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hamlin.
Laverne is preceded in death by her husband, Gean Witt; her son, Jeffrey Warren Witt; her parents, James and Annie Hix; her sister; and her brother.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Middleton (Mike) and Cindy Leonard (Fred), both of Abilene; and one grandson, David Chad Middleton of Abilene.
