Sylvester-Kerry L. Gardner, 55, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Sylvester Baptist Church. Burial will be in Newman Cemetery, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home Chapel.
Born November 9, 1963, in Merkel, Kerry was the son of Donald Ray and Sandra (Freeman) Gardner. He graduated from Texas Tech University with his Master of Education. While at Texas Tech, Kerry taught Agriculture for three years. He married Jamie Watson August 17, 1984, in Sylvester. They moved various places in the Panhandle before moving to Sylvester in 2012. He worked for Cargill Cattle Company for 23 years before retiring and was instrumental in research and creating computer programs that are still used today. Kerry was a gentle giant. He loved big and was a true family man. Nothing made Kerry happier than being with his three grand babies and seeing them grow and loving on them. They were the light of his life and he was theirs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and doing leather work. Kerry was a member of the Sylvester Baptist Church.
Kerry is preceded in death by his father (Donald Gardner) and father-in-law (Troy Watson).
Survivors include his mother, Sandra Gardner; wife, Jamie Gardner; one son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Robin Gardner; three grandchildren, Amelia, Adeline, and Asher Gardner; two brother and sister in-law’s and many nieces and nephews.
He is dearly loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him in this life, until we’re reunited in heaven.
