Born January 18, 1936, in Fisher County, Texas, Johnny was the son of Trueitt J.T. and Lydia Jewell Gibson Jeffrey. He graduated from McCaulley High School in the class of 1954. On July 20, 1957,he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Babs Henderson, in McCaulley. The couple moved to Hamlin shortly after their marriage. Johnny was the owner of the TriCounty Cemetery Service for many years, providing gravedigging services for area funeral homes. In his spare time, he enjoyed football, sports and in his younger days, waterskiing. A family man, Johnny loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamlin.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two nephews.
He is survived by his wife of fiftyseven years, Barbara Babs Jeffrey of Hamlin his son, Joe Jeffrey and his wife, Kelly, of Hamlin his daughter, Julie Moore and her husband, David, of Hamlin his brother, Jackie Jeffrey and his wife, Barbara, of McCaulley his brotherinlaw, Billy Henderson and his wife, Annie Laurie, of Hamlin seven grandchildren, Jon David Moore and his wife, Carrie, Emilee Moore, Addie Jeffrey, Klaire Jeffrey, Erica Larry, Kollin Smith and husband, Johnny, and Olivia Jeffrey four greatgrandchildren, Hudson Smith, Layne Smith, Emmitt Larry, and Ava Grace McPherson and a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
