Johnnie Arden Woods, born on July 23, 1944, in Hamlin, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at the Stonewall Living Center in Aspermont, Texas. He lived a life rich in profession, service, and passion, leaving behind a legacy cherished by family and friends alike.
For 45 years, Johnnie owned and operated Woods Jewelry and Repair in Hamlin, where he became a well-respected member of the community. His craftsmanship and dedication to his work earned him a loyal customer base, drawn not only to his skillful jewelry repairs but also to his warm personality. Prior to his successful career as a jeweler, Johnnie proudly served in the Army, a testament to his commitment to his country. After closing the jewelry store, Johnnie worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Snyder, Texas until his retirement.
Johnnie’s love for family was evident in everything he did. He is survived by his son, Johnny Woods Jr., and his daughter-in-law, Kathy Woods. Also mourning his loss are his son Joe Don Woods and daughter-in-law Amanda Woods, stepson Robert McNiel and wife Betty, and stepson Jimmy McNiel. Johnnie is also survived by his grandchildren are Kendall Kay Woods, Faith Lillian Woods and Colton Smith Woods, Jhera Burch and husband Brett, Achyllies McNiel, Cheyanna McNiel, Trevor McNiel, and Chloe McNiel, and one great granddaughter Coven Ryan Burch.
Johnnie was predeceased by his beloved wife, Deeanna Woods, who passed in March 2025, and his brother James Woods, his sister Annie Henderson, and his niece Jamie Woods. The bond he shared with Deeanna, in particular, was marked by shared interests and joyful experiences, such as their trips to gamble together and the time they spent fishing. His passion for rebuilding '57 Chevys was another reflection of his vibrant spirit; it was a hobby that brought him immense joy and satisfaction.
Johnnie Arden Woods will be remembered not only for his contributions professionally, but also for the love and kindness he extended to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
