Joan Hester

July 8, 1928 — January 31, 2012

HAMLIN JOAN CARR HESTER, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012, in Abilene. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, ed by AdamsFosterRay Funeral Home. Her family will have visitation 6:00 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Born July 8, 1928, at the Plasterco Community in Fisher County, Joan was a daughter of the late Howell Clifford quotH.C.quot and Bertha Polk Carr. She graduated from Hamlin High School in 1945. Joan met Johnnie Hester when they both worked at Celotex and they married June 26, 1948, in Abilene. She became a full time homemaker and mother when her children were born. Joan loved and adored her family especially all of her grandchildren, but she was always able to find time to crochet and play her favorite game, Bingo. She was a lifelong resident of Hamlin until she and Johnnie moved to Abilene in 1984. Joan was a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Abilene. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister Lucille Willbanks and one brother Jerry P. Carr.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of sixtythree years, Johnnie Hester a son and daughterinlaw, Sam and Kenny Gayle Hester of Abilene a daughter and soninlaw, Marsha and Charlie Bishop of Abilene a brother, Clifford Carr of Wichita Falls a sister, Tess Butler of Tacoma, Washington six grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Chad Hutcherson, Holly Morris, James Bishop, Josh Terry and Lacy Lineweaver ten greatgrandchildren, Dylan Newman, Hayden Smith, Alex Morris, Josh Morris, Katlin Morris, Michael Morris, Madison Terry, Ella Grace Terry, Mack Lineweaver and Laken Bishop two greatgreatgrandchildren, Stetson Newman and Roper Newman two stepgranddaughters eight stepgreatgrandchildren one stepgreatgreatgrandchild a sisterinlaw, Pat Carr a brotherinlaw, W.I. Goolsby numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
