Jo Wright

July 8, 1935 — May 5, 2018

JoAnn Wright, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home to be with her heavenly father Saturday, May 5, 2018. JoAnn was born on July 8, 1935 to M.F. and Mary Holmes. On May 25, 1958, she married Jack D Wright. She and Jack lived in Hamlin, TX, Abilene TX, Midland, TX, and Monahan's, TX before settling in Lubbock, TX where she passed away.

JoAnn gave her time to her husband, family, and others, always having an open home and warm meal for all who entered. She supported her children in their school endeavors - never missing hundreds of soccer games, school band and choir concerts and football game performances. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper using skills she gained from graduating from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX. She then went to work for the Athletic Department at Texas Tech University. A dream job for the true sports mom, she was able to travel with her beloved Texas Tech Red Raider football team and Mz. JoAnn "adopted" many of the young men she came into contact with and still receives cards and letters from many of them to this day. She never missed sending her children and grandchildren cards for every occasion from Valentine's Day to Birthdays to Christmas even when they were grown. She loved peanut butter crackers and Sonic cokes and rarely traveled anywhere without them. She loved to travel and often traveled with her cousin Eva June Logan and her husband Carl Logan who preceded her in death.

She is proceeded in death by her parents M.F. and Mary Holmes and her brother, Jim Holmes. She is survived in death by her husband Jack D. Wright, her daughter Melinda Miller and her fiancé Anthony Sperry, her son, Keanan Wright and his wife Cindy, her son Randy Wright and his wife Rhonda, her grandsons Justin Wright and Natalie Knuuttila and their daughter Brayleigh, Philip Wright and his wife Cassie and their daughter Lily, Corey Wright and his wife Tiffanie, her granddaughters Rachel Wright and her fiancé Stubie Killian and their son Otto and Sara Wright.
