Jane Esther Holloway Merritt passed away Oct 2, 2016 in Abilene, Tx. Jane was born in Plainview, Tx, July 2, 1963 to parents Mary & Kenneth Holloway. Her young life was spent in Tulia, Vega, and Dumas, Texas. Jane graduated from Dumas High School in 1981 and Texas Tech University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in food & nutrition science. October 5, 1985 Jane married the love of her life, Scott Manning Merritt. Their early marriage was spent in Graham, Tx and later moved to Fort Worth.
Jane loved children and spent her life's career involved with CPS, substitute teaching, nutrition & most of all a full time mom. She retired in May 2016 from the Tarrant County Public Health Department as a WIC Program Nutritionist. Jane was a faithful & active member of the First United Methodist Church of Hurst for the past 22 years gaining lifelong friends & a second family in the Open Door Sunday School class. Many Thursday evenings were spent exchanging laughs & building memories with friends in her Keno group. Jane was appreciated for her kind & sweet soul, open & loving arms and funny one-liners.
Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Scott, father, Kenneth Holloway, maternal grandparents, Tarlton & Esther Willingham, paternal grandparents, Henry & Ollie Holloway. She is survived by her children, Emily & Phillip Merritt of Fort Worth, mother, Mary Holloway of Hamlin, siblings, Andrew Holloway of Canadian, Melinda Paxton of Lubbock, and Jill Cariker of Abilene, along with many loved cousins, nieces & nephews, in-laws and extended family.
