Jake Weir, 91 of Hamlin passed away Novemer 16, 2018 in Abilene. Funeral services are scheduled for 10am, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Hamlin; with a private family burial in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery following the funeral service.
Jake Thomas Weir was born in Eden, TX January 10, 1927; to his loving parents, Dr. William C. and Ruby (Thomas) Weir. Jake was a 1944 graduate of Hamlin High School and pursued his Bachelor of Science degree at McMurry University in Abilene. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country during WWII. Jake was a lifelong resident of the Hamlin community and spent most of his life working hard as a farmer and rancher. He will be remembered as a man that was always willing to help someone in need without hesitation; and an absolute die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Jake will be dearly missed by those who knew him and loved him.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janie Weir, and second wife, Wanda Weir; his great-nephew, Charlie Weir; his niece, Elisa Benson; and his cousin, Charles Wofford.
Jake is survived by his brother, Dr. Joseph Weir of McAllen, TX; his son, Shannon Weir of Rotan; Diane Gregory of Gun Barrel City, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested for donations to be made to Hendrick Hospice in Jake's memory.
