Jackie Wayne Williams Grandad age 81, of Hamlin, died Tuesday after a lengthy illness. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Hamlin with burial in the Neinda Cemetery. Bro. Donnie Harbers and Bro. Dwayne Wheat will officiate. ation will be 6:00 7:00 Thursday at AdamsFosterRay Funeral Home in Hamlin.
Jackie was born August 23, 1932 in the rural community of Boyds Chapel to V.E. Jack Williams and Linda Wilemon Williams and lived his entire life in the surrounding area of Hamlin and Neinda. He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1949 and on May 29, 1952 he married the love of his life, Billie Putnam. Jackie served in the army 19531955 during the Korean War as a military policeman while stationed in Germany. Upon his return, he completed his Associate in Arts degree at Ranger Junior College. Jackie was a farmer and rancher and worked at the Celotex Corporation for over 30 years. After retiring from the Celotex Corporation, he was able to pursue his passion of buying and selling cattle full time, allowing him to make many life time friends. He was ordained as a deacon of the Neinda Baptist Church in 1967 and was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Hamlin. He served on the Hamlin School Board for 18 years, received an Honorary Chapter Farmer Degree in 1980, was a long time member and President several times of West Texas Knife Club and was awarded the Presidents Award in 1984, served as President for the Hamlin High School Booster Club 19931994 and was honored by the National Future Farmers of American in May 1994. He never met a stranger, was an avid bird hunter and a very great story teller some stories were better than others. He is survived by his wife of sixtyone years, Billie Putnam Williams four children and their spouses, Mignon and Don Lawson of Buffalo Gap, Sonja and Dr. Doug Becker of Spring Branch, Guy and April Williams of Abilene, and Mickey and Lesa Williams of Waco eleven grandchildren, Rebecca Dalton and husband Clark, Jason Lawson, Jake Lawson, Denise Bingham, Brent Becker and wife Krista, Jacqueline Williams, Chloe Williams, Sarah Williams, Cody Williams, Lacy Williams, and Gabby Greene three greatgrandchildren, Emily Bingham, Cade Bingham and Evan Becker niece, Latrese Lytle nephew, Jackie Don Williams and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donley Williams.
