Gwendolyn was born October 1, 1939, in Hamlin, Texas to parents Minnie and Cecil Brown. In 1958 she married the love of her life, John Rowland. She was a homemaker and she loved decorating. She was a member of a sorority and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Gwendolyn was so very proud of her grandkids and great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and Cecil Brown; and her husband, John Rowland. Gwendolyn is survived by her daughter Melanie McNabb and husband Jim of Ft Worth Texas; One son, Britt Rowland, and wife Miriam of Gulf Breeze, FL; One brother; Randy Brown of MaryNeal, Texas; One niece, Holly Collins and husband Rick of Hamlin Texas; Three grandchildren; Brian Caldwell, Elaina Rowland, and Drew Rowland; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Caldwell, Raymen Caldwell, Trace Rowland and Wyatt Rowland; and one great-great grandchild, Alonzo Caldwell.
Gwen moved to South Louisiana with her husband, John, as a newlywed. She grew to love Cajun Food and Dance. It was a different world for a girl from West Texas and she embraced it. She incorporated her love for her home state of Texas with that of Louisiana. After raising their children, she and John moved back to Texas.
Some of the best memories she made with her children and grandchildren were looking for shells on the Gulf of Mexico beach. Gwen would start looking for shells and before long the grandkids and her kids were looking for shells with her.
The world is a better place because of the lives that Gwen touched. She loved her family and they loved her.
