Dorothy Tankersley

Born April 18, 1925, in Fisher County, Texas, Dorothy was the daughter of James Robert and Delia Johnson Beard. She graduated from Sylvester High School in 1942, and attended HardinSimmons University. Dorothy taught school for a short while, then went to work for American Airlines as a stewardess in October of 1947. On May 14, 1950, she married John H. Tankersley, in Fort Worth. He passed away in 2004. The couple had one son, Gary Neal Tankersley. She lived in Fort Worth from July of 1948 until June of 2010, when she moved to Hamlin, Texas.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John Tankersley her parents, James and Delia Beard her sister, Bobbie Sue Beard her nephew, Charles Ward Anderson, Jr. and an infant brother, Billy Ray Beard.
She is survived by her son, Gary Neal Tankersley three nieces, Nancy Webster, Jonie Walker, and Kathy McPhearson a nephew, Charlie Tankersley a sisterinlaw, Betty Tankersley longtime friend Daphne Motheral Jose and her husband, Dwayne special caretakers Todd and Debra Stevenson and numerous cousins, family members, and friends.
