Dorothy Bilbrey

Dorothy Jean Bilbrey, 70, passed away in her home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. Graveside services will be 3:00 pm on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the Bethel Cemetery in Funston, Texas directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born September 2, 1952 in Anson, Texas to Lavada Mae (Long) and Jasper Newton Griffith. She married James Bilbrey Sr. on March 18, 1972 at her parents home in Anson. He preceded her in death April 2, 2014.

Dorothy worked for years at the boat plant and elevator in Hamlin before retiring in 2015 to be a full time, Nan. Dorothy (Nan) loved her grandchildren and children, which was evident in everything she did.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bobby Griffith, and Leon Griffith; sister, Betty Griffith; and her husband, James Bilbrey Sr.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Jimmy Bilbrey (Aimee) of Avoca, daughter Katrina Hernandez (Mark) of Hamlin; four grandchildren, Brendon, Dusty, and Wyatt Littlefield, and Makayla Hernandez; three sisters, Clara Spalding of Hamlin, Evelyn Markham of Austin, and Judy Sandbothe (Brian) of Anson; four brothers, Steve Griffith (Tammie) of Hamlin, Donny Griffith (Debra) of Roby, Billy Griffith of Stamford, and Johnny Clyde Griffith of Stamford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
