Dolores Gardner, born September 1, 1956, in Abilene, Texas, passed away on July 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, cherished memories, and enduring warmth. Her journey through life touched many, and her spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Dolores was the beloved daughter of Alvin Hinkle and Leonora Ward Hinkle, both of whom preceded her in death. Also greeting her in peace were her devoted husband, Elvin Leroy Gardner, whom she married on March 13, 1984, her dear daughter Leanna, and two brothers, Bobby and Chuck, and sister, Julia.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Jennifer and William Rutherford, and Rebecca Gardner. Dolores' memory will remain a guiding light for her siblings: her brother Butch Hinkle and her sister Darlene Maberry, who shared with her countless moments of family joy and togetherness.
Dolores lived a life marked by simple joys and deep affection for her family. She found happiness in life’s everyday pleasures, always enjoying having fun and sharing laughter with those she loved. Her role as a mother was one she treasured above all, and her devotion to her children was evident in every act of kindness and care.
A talented cook, Dolores worked at The Pied Piper, where she brought not only skill and dedication to her work but also her unmistakable warmth and cheerful presence. Her colleagues and all who dined there will remember her fondly.
Her pastimes spoke to her gentle spirit and playful nature. She was an avid game enthusiast and delighted in working puzzles, often accompanied by a steaming cup of coffee. Dolores had a fondness for classic television, particularly the black and white episodes of the 1960 series "Dark Shadows," which provided hours of entertainment.
Dolores’ legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be dearly missed, tenderly remembered and forever loved.
