Christopher Hunter

Christopher Matthew Hunter passed away May 30, 2023. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Hamlin. There will be a visitation prior to the service starting at 1:00 pm at the church. Services are under the direction of Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home of Hamlin, Texas.

Chris was born March 4, 1972 to Walter Willie Hunter Sr. and Katherine Hunter. He was the baby boy of twelve children. Chris attended Hamlin School and graduated in 1991. He later went to truck driving school and then attended Cisco Junior College and became a correctional officer. He worked at various prisons before moving to Tucson, Arizona where he spent the remainder of his life helping his sister, Lavine, and brother-in-law, Jimmie as long as he was able. He loved cooking, riding his scooter, and meeting new people.

Chris is preceded in death by his parents.

Left to mourn his passing are sisters, Lavine Coleman Jimerson (Jimmie) of Tucson, Arizona, Vanessa Hunter (Willie Glover) of Abilene, Texas, Gloria Hunter, Erma Walker, Idella Hunter, and Shirley Hunter all of Hamlin, Texas; brothers, Walter Hunter Jr. (Debbie) of Abilene, Robert Hunter, Lem Hunter, Glen Hunter, and John Hunter all of Hamlin; two sister-nieces, Katrina Williams (Arnold) of Fort Worth, Texas and DeQuitta Koney of Hamlin, Texas; a special friend, Charlotte Bolden; aunts, Alberta Mayes and Mary Johnson of Tucson, Arizona, Erma Mayes of Hamlin; uncles, Willis Perry (Betty) of Tucson, Arizona, Hubert Washington (Ester) of Bronx, New York. William Brown and Willie Hunter both of Hamlin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
