Charles Clinton Wade, 84, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Charles, fondly known as Charlie to everyone who knew him, was born on November 27, 1941, in Jones County, Texas to Maggie Mozelle Davis and Alford Clinton Wade.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Charlie loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. He knew how to fix just about anything with his own engineering skills and was very passionate about the Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Wade and Bobby Wade; brother-in-law, Herbert Johnston; sister-in-law, Bethene Wade; two nephews, and one niece. Charlie is survived by his beloved daughter, Sondra Landry and husband, Max; grandson, Chase Morton and wife, Natalie; great-granddaughter, Hadley Morton; sister, Mary Grisham; niece, Diane Kolb and husband, Clifton; nephew, Danny Johnston and wife, Cindy; niece, Leona Hall and husband, Dale; nieces, Karen Washington and Tamera McClaren; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 South in Abilene. Private Family Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Abilene with officiation by The Reverend Kathryn J. Morton.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation and thanks to all the staff of Wisteria Place Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care, Hendrick Medical Center North, and Hendrick Hospice Care for their dedicated care, support, and kindness.
