Hamlin

Bobby Jones, 79, of Hamlin, passed away September 2, 2023 in Midland, Texas. Service will be 11:00 am Friday, September 8, 2023 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Hamlin with burial to follow in Neinda Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.

Bobby was born to Alva Allen (Casey) Jones and Hazel Jarvis Hill Jones on November 5, 1943, in Hamlin, Texas.  Bobby was the fifth of six children.  Bobby’s brothers were Alva Allen Jr (Sonny), Raymond Lee Jones, Rodger Dale Jones, all have preceded him in death. Bobby has two sisters, Mildred Jones Walton of Lubbock, Texas, and Molly Jones Cook of Ft Worth, Tx.  Bobby leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobby attended school in Hamlin grades 1-12 with a short stent in Hereford while his father was working there.  Bobby’s 12th grade year he made the difficult decision to leave school four months before graduating to support his family after his father suffered an injury and was unable to work. Later that summer he completed his GED.  He later attended McMurry College for a while.

In 1960 Bobby met the love of his life, Elizabeth Jane Muhle (Janie) Jones. He married her on December 17, 1965 at Rochester Baptist Church and devoted the rest of his life to loving and supporting her.  Bobby and Janie made their home in Hamlin. In 1968 they welcomed their first child Sondra, followed by James in 1971, and Elizabeth in 1974. Later they welcomed bonus son Andy in 1987, and daughter Mary in 1992. Bobby and Janie were married fifty-six years and spent a total of sixty-one years adoring each other until she shed her earthly bonds on January 4, 2022. Bobby spent the rest of his life missing her, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Bobby worked hard to support his family and was proud that he taught them hard work ethics. He also taught them how to fish, camp and appreciate football (maybe not to his level), but still can enjoy a game. We never give up mentally and give everything your best until the end. His constant dedication and sacrifice will forever be remembered and appreciated and cherished by your adoring family. Sondra, James, and Elizabeth were truly shown what true love was by the example their parents provided day in and day out every day of their lives. Bobby spent years working in the oil fields along with other jobs throughout his lifetime. Supporting his family always came first. Bobby officially retired July 1, 2022.

Bobby was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He loved cooking, fishing, muscle cars and football (oh the football stories.). We wish there were more cameras back then. Bobby loved life and lived it well. He was always the guardian and can rest with Mom now as his job here is done. We know they are together again with our Heavenly Father.

Bobby is survived by his adoring family, daughter, Sondra and bonus son Andy Acklin of Midland and granddaughter, Autumn Acklin of Midland/San Marcos; son, James and Bonus daughter Mary Jones of Lubbock, and granddaughters Ashley Jones, and Paige Jones and fiancé Colbin Hobbs of Lubbock; daughter, Elizabeth Villanueva of Stamford, and grandsons, Brandon Villanueva, and Kaden Jones of Stamford.

Bobby was preceded by one grandson, Trey Jones.

 To our Daddy

“We Love you and have been so blessed with your love every day of our lives.” Sondra will always be Daddy’s little girl, James will always be your Bub, and Elizabeth will always be Your Pumpkin. Thank you!!!! We all love and miss you. Letting you go has been the hardest thing we will ever do but you prepared us for everything thing in life, and we will carry you and Mom with us forever. As with Mom, Dad carried us through life, we his children will honor him and carry him into his eternal resting place beside Mom.
