HAMLIN BILLIE MERLE WICKER, 87, passed away August 6, 2012 at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Central Baptist Church with burial in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery. Her family will have visitation 6:00 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at AdamsFosterRay Funeral Home.
Billie Merle was born October 6, 1924 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Willie Dewey quotBillquot and Ruby Edna Howington Adair. She moved to Hamlin as a very young child where she attended school and graduated in1943. Billie Merle married Marion Franklin quotJackquot Wicker at Hamlin on May 14, 1948. She worked at Ferguson Theater and Rogue Theater in the ticket booths. Billie Merle later became the first manager at Bill39s Dollar Store and worked until she retired. She was very devoted to her family and was active in the Bluebirds, Campfire Girls and PTA. Billie Merle enjoyed sewing, cooking, working quotFindAWordquot puzzles and watching westerns. She was also a member of the Church of the Nazarene and the Women39s Literary Club. Billie Merle especially loved her friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers Slatz and Don Eddie Adair.
She is survived by two daughters and a soninlaw, Suzanne Wicker of Hamlin and Tina and Mike Harper also of Hamlin four grandchildren, Rhonda Joiner, Shelby Joiner, Matt and wife Hayley Harper and Troy Harper four greatgrandchildren, Wesley Cooper, Abby Cooper, Joshua Joiner and Matley Harper two sisterinlaws, Mildred Adair and Earnestine Adair and many nieces and nephews.
