Betty Kelly, 81, of Haskell, passed away March 28, 2018, at her residence after succumbing to sudden heart failure.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10am, Friday, March 30, 2018 in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery.
Betty Lou Vinson Kelly was born October 6, 1936 near Nugent, TX to Callie and Willie (Fulgham) Vinson. She graduated from high school in Stamford, TX. Betty was a kind and caring person; willing to help anyone that needed it in any way she could. She was a loving mother and raised two wonderful sons. Betty enjoyed sewing, working on puzzles, and working in her flower beds. In her younger years she enjoyed painting and some of her beautiful works still hang in her house to this day. Betty was a devoted wife; a loving mother and a wonderful sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew her and loved her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Callie and Willie Vinson; her husband, Bill Kelly; her son, Kelly Scott Strickland; her brother, Carl Vinson; her sister, Jo Vinson; and two brothers-in-law; L.C. Plumlee and Edward Lee.
Betty's memories will be cherished by her son, Wesley David Strickland and wife Denice of Port Aransas; two step-sons, David Kelly of Abilene and Dallas Kelly of Houston, her grandchildren; Bryson Young of Clyde, Tyler Strickland of Port Aransas, and Kira(Strickland) Barnett of Odessa; step-grandchildren, Misty Meyer and Austin Kelly; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Inez Plumlee of Stamford, Rosie Buntin and husband Roy Lee of Cedar Park, Patsy Lee of Colorado Springs, CO, and Linda Rice and husband Ronnie of Andrews; one sister-in-law, Mary Vinson of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Betty's name to your favorite charitable organization.
