Bernardo Gutierrez

Bernardo Jesus "Benny" Gutierrez, Jr., passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at an Abilene hospital.
Born October 5, 1959, in Hamlin, Benny was the son of Bernardo Gomez Gutierrez, Sr., and Guadalupe (Armenta) Gutierrez. He attended Hamlin High School, where he played on the Baseball and Football teams. After graduating in the class of 1978, he went to work at the Pied Piper Mill as a loader and driver. He worked at the mill for over forty years. Benny was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hamlin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernardo and Guadalupe Gutierrez; and his niece, Monique.
Benny is survived by one sister, Rosemary Flores (Bonifacio) of Merkel; one nephew, Manuel Sanchez (Brittny) of Fort Worth; two nieces, Leticia Hall of Merkel and Rosalinda Cerna (Juan) of Merkel; two aunts, Mary Holden of Hamlin and Connie Martinez of Rotan; eight great-nieces and great-nephews, Ryan, Gabriel, Lilly, Tristan, Summer, Haley, Isabel, and Mayra; a special friend, Dorothy Rivera, and her children Irene Lopez and John Gonzalez; and best friends Scooter Offield and Albert Quintanilla.
