HAMLIN Belton Ray Hooper, 76, passed away April 21, 2012, in Hamlin. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, ed by AdamsFoster Ray Funeral Home. ation will 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday April 27, 2012, at the funeral home.
Born October 22, 1935, in Timpson, Belton was a son of the late Clyde, Sr. and Lula Davis Hooper. He married Vera Johnson in Anson. Belton worked for the Hamlin Compress as a foreman before retiring.
He loved visiting with his friends on the front porch and going fishing.
Belton is preceded in death by his parents, infant son Curtis Hooper, sister Winifred Stephens, and brother Willie James Hooper, Sr..
Survivors include his wife, Vera Hooper of Hamlin two brothers, Clyde Hooper, Jr., and Bobby Hooper six sisters, Ima Jean Holman, Earnestine Morris and husband, J.W., Mary Driver, Annie Hooper, Betty Turner and husband, Oscar and Diane Richard and husband, Ralph childhood friends, Dan Fletcher, Jr, Mr. Garrett very very good friend, William Brown good friend and boss, Mickey Diersing and oh yes, John Ervin, another brother.
