Annie Lee

Annie "Nell" (Butler) Lee (82) was born January 4, 1934, in Hamlin TX to James and Maud Butler. She joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age where she has served as a faithful member throughout her life. Annie was a member of the Women's Mission, the Eastern Starr, and served as the church secretary. She attended and graduated from Oscar Depriest School.
Annie's lifelong works included a careers in housekeeper, cook, and caregiver. She retired from the Abilene State School in 1996 and then began a retirement career as a caregiver working in home health for Girling and Kindred Home Health agencies. She volunteered additional time to assist others in the community that needed special care for their loved ones.
Annie was a passionate community worker in Hamlin and could be seen working and tending the properties around Oak Grove Baptist Church most evenings and weekends. She loved keeping the grounds and felt that it relaxed her and gave her a sense of peace. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and made it a goal to assist them with going to college. Her most joyous moments were attending high school and college graduations of all in the family. Oh yeah, she loved shopping and found much joy from browsing thrift/second hand stores, and garage sales. She found many a treasures of which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was known and loved by all as she made it her mission to address and spark up a friendly conversation with all that she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Maud Butler, Sisters, Ethel Sheffield, and Doris Fraizer. She leaves to carry on her legacy her children: Evelyn Lee, Milwaukee, WI, Peggy Willis, (Sam) OKC, OK, Debra Jenkins, Snyder TX, Henry C. Lee, (Vee) Odessa TX, Pamela Johnson, Abilene, TX, Gerald Lee, (Dalia) Odessa, TX, Tracy Wise, (Oferal) Amarillo, TX , Ronald Lee, Odessa TX; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; one brother James (Bob) Butler Jr and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
