Sweetwater-Altha (Putnam) Adams, 87, passed away June 22, 2019, in Sweetwater. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. June 27, 2019, at Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. before services. Burial will be in Neinda Cemetery, directed by Adams-Foster-Ray Funeral Home.
Born December 12, 1931, in Fisher County, Altha was the daughter of the late Nelson and Vada (Plemmons) Putnam. She married David Gene Adams on May 29, 1948, in Rotan. They made their home in Hamlin, where she served her community as a CNA at Hamlin Memorial Hospital for many years before moving to Sweetwater to be closer to her family. They enjoyed 62 years together and welcomed a much-loved son, Ricky on December 20, 1964. Altha was such a loving mother but excelled and found her greatest joy as a grandmother. She enjoyed being with her family, cooking, sewing, and watching tropical fish.
Altha is preceded in death by her husband, David; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Cynthia Putnam; brothers-in-law, Garland Floyd and Jackie Williams; one niece, Darlene Putnam; and one nephew, Larry Floyd.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Jill Adams; two grandchildren, Chance and Hayden Adams; two sisters, Bonnie Floyd and Billie Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved dog, Spot.
