Alicia Kay Smith, beloved wife, mother, Sugar, Shee-sha, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on July 27, 2026, in her hometown of Hamlin, Texas, at the age of 48.

Born on October 2, 1977, in Hamlin, Alicia was the cherished daughter of Sandra McCoy and the late Larry Ralph McCoy. From an early age, her radiant kindness and unwavering devotion to those she loved touched all who knew her. Alicia graduated from Hamlin High School in the Class of 1996, building lifelong friendships and memories in the town she would forever call home.

Alicia poured her heart into every role she undertook—both at work and within her community. She was a valued member of Cooper Insurance and brought warmth and care as Secretary at First Baptist Church and Sellers Cattle Company. In her entrepreneurial spirit, Alicia became the owner and operator of M&C Lumber in Hamlin, where her work ethic and generosity defined the business and served as a beacon of integrity for all who worked alongside her. Alicia was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Hamlin where she taught Children's Sunday School and was a member of the Sunday Morning Praise and Worship Team.

Family was the foundation of Alicia’s world. She took immense pride in raising their two children, Stran Smith and Katy White. Her heart blossomed further with the arrival of her beautiful granddaughter, Ella, a source of boundless joy whom she considered her proudest accomplishment.

Those closest to Alicia knew her as someone who delighted in the simplest treasures of life: time spent with her family, a shopping trip with loved ones, the laughter around a lively game, or the warmth of home-cooked meals and long conversations. Each gathering was infused with her joy and welcoming spirit. She especially adored her nieces and nephews, who affectionately called her “See-sha,” a testament to the special place she held in their hearts and the cherished memories they shared.

Alicia’s spirit was anchored by her deep, genuine interest in everyone she met. Her attentive ear, steadfast kindness, and willingness to help extended far beyond her immediate circles—to friends, co-workers, neighbors, and church members alike. Quietly dignified and quick to offer comfort or lend a helping hand, Alicia’s presence made each life she touched a little brighter.

Alicia is survived by her husband, Tim Bob Smith; her son, Stran Smith and wife, Braelyn; her daughter, Katy White and husband Caleb; her treasured granddaughter, Ella; her mother, Sandra McCoy; her sisters, Angie Gann and husband Ray, Lindsay Strand and husband Eric, and Nikki Hughes. She lives on in every story shared, memory relived, and kindness passed forward in her honor.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Ralph McCoy, and her brother-in-law, Scott Hughes. Their spirits now reunite, surely welcoming Alicia with the same love she gave so freely during her days with us.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Alicia’s honor on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Hamlin, located at 217 SW Ave B, Hamlin, TX 79520. All who cherished Alicia and whose lives were touched by her gentle soul are invited to join in remembering, mourning, and celebrating a remarkable woman.

Though Alicia Kay Smith’s presence will be missed beyond words, her legacy of love, kindness, and selfless devotion lives on in the hearts of those she so dearly loved.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Hamlin.
